Earthquake in Afghanistan
In October 2023, a series of devastating earthquakes struck Herat province in western Afghanistan, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The first quake, with a magnitude of 6.3, hit on October 7, followed by multiple strong aftershocks over the next few days. These quakes destroyed thousands of homes across dozens of villages, leaving many people trapped under rubble and displacing thousands.
